Thanks Axman! Hopefully I won't let you down and make sure I keep it interesting.

Took the E36 to the garage this morning for a diagnostics check, as well as had the car lifted to inspect what headaches and heartaches were hidden underneath the car waiting to drive my bills through the roof. Luckily, the car seems to be in fantastic shape - mechanically - considering it's approx. 20 years old!
The diagnostics checked showed that my central locking wasn't working; an oxygen sensor needed replacing, as well as spark plugs; and that the engine just needs a tune up in order to be running smoothly again. The clutch needs to be replaced, as well as the brakes which I can live with. No other major issues (for now).
Apologies for the iPhone camera photos... Next up is what was discovered underneath the M3 when we lifted it.

It's definitely an interesting setup. Thanks for the tip!

Once the car was on the lift and the underbody of the E36 was inspected, we basically came to the conclusion that a few items will require a bit of attention. It looks like the suspension could be replaced, simply for the sake of having the handling of the car as tight as possible, even though the previous owner had upgraded it to a Bilstein setup at all four corners. The lower arms will also be replaced with new ones.
Since the exhaust system is worn and showing its age, there's a huge possibility I will be replacing it completely as well.
But all in all, I am completely satisfied with what I have seen. I couldn't be happier with the overall shape of the car. Now, it's time to start phasing the restoration project and budgeting. Wish me luck!

You need to go with a good coilover setup. Also replace all bushes with Powerflex items. The Exhaust, get Supersprint cat back and headers and do not touch the mid section with the cats or as you'll lose power in midrange by modifying the center section.
Also get adjustable rear control arms for the sake of full adjustability while on the alignment machine and make sure the coilovers you choose have camber plates up front as that'll allow you dial in the correct alignment.

I hope so man. I should be hearing back from the garage today and getting feedback on a few other niggles. Keeping my fingers crossed!
Thanks for tuning in!
