The JC to spec an F10 M5
#123
Glad you opted for the DCT transmission JC, although I'm definitely a bigger fan of manual gearboxes. Like the last generation M5, the manual transmission was not part of the car's design so it had its flaws... I'm sure the new manual will be no different. Plus, the DCT unit on the new one is sickeningly quick!

^You're way too late to the argument. Besides, I drove an F10 550 Sport with a 6MT and the position of the shifter relative to the center console is way too awkward. I (and my father) have long arms the slope down the console to the shifter was way too steep for me. Maybe I am not explaining this well, but trust me, if you drive a 6MT F10 you should understand. The F10 M5 will need a shifter the height of the one in the e39 M5 in order to be enjoyable.
In the end, it is not my car (I'd spend the money on a used GT3) so the transmission decision was not mine to make. However, if you look over the rest of this thread, you'll see that it was heavily debated already.

Great spec!
I almost went this way, actually went through spec'ing the car and getting an order ready to submit, but went to a Panamera GTS. Just a better fit for me.
BTW, for those of you who stated that the 6speed was an afterthought, the M school instructors have had the 6speed for a bit and it has become their favorite. Apparently, well suited for a car that was an afterthought.
Just an FYI.
