Talk to me about M3s

I feel a strong sense of connection towards people who don't acknowledge automatics. Now onto those damn flappy-paddle fanboys!

Hi Chris,
I would say go for it. When I got the M3, I was tossing between a GTR and possibly the R8 V10 (not in the same price range I know), but from a daily use point of view. The M3 was the best one IMO.
So for no regrets! Except the damn mod bug has bit me for this one

With the almost 100% stop-n-go city driving in Hawaii a manual is more of a pain than anything else. If you lived there you might have a greater appreciation for paddles/auto.

What else do you have besides the 911 and the GTI? Seems like very reasonable cars to have. I'd not downgrade to a M3. Test drive one and you'll know what I mean.
M3 is wicked fast, smooth and very well balanced. It doesn't feel the road like a 911 does. It sounds like 1/2 the car a 911 is. The rear seats are cramped so it's not really proper backseat. It's just not quite as special and the look of it says it all IMO.
As for the GTR, I've not driven it but the sound is also lack luster. I can't imagine hanging out with 25 yo crowd either.
You have 2 fun cars. Just enjoy them!

Done it. Toronto has awful roads, and traffic. Never drove an auto for more than an hour without wanting a 3rd pedal.
You won't convince me.

My M3 is my DD and I love it! Mine is also a stick shift and I wouldn't have it any other way. Would I sell a Porsche to own it? I wouldn't have thought of it before but now, I wouldn't mind. I wouldn't think about getting a GTR just because it's not what I am all about. This model, along with the M5 and M6, will be the last naturally aspirated engines for a long time so get one while you can.
