The M5 never had an 'electronic valve' in the exhaust.

The waken very well with an exhaust. My favorite(s): Kellners, B&B Triflow, and Dinan.

The only other sedan that comes close for me is the B7 RS4. But, a nice, clean M5 is half the price. You won't have warranty, but I'd be willing to take that risk given the fixed cost difference, and car.

The electronic valve was a modification. The cut out simply means a cut out was made for the EV to be attached and able to be open/closed.

In my opinion it is the best sports sedan ever made, with the E60 M5 a very, very, very close 2nd. Every time I see one I still stare. I have always wanted an E39 M5 and I think that will stay with me forever.

Too bad a large majority of E39 M5's have since become abused $15k turds...

I agree one of the best sport sedans ever to be made.

The only thing better than the E39 M5 sedan is the E39 M5 wagon.

So true.

I saw over 100 M5's, a majority were complete garbage.
