WALLY Sea Trial
#1
So I took out the Wally Tender on Sunday for the second sea trial. I first saw the boat 2 years ago. After having looked at the Van Dutch, I wanted to take a look at the Wally again.
I went to see the Van Dutch at the show again, and this time the Bimini top was up, and I could not stand in the boat with the top up, which is a terrible thing for me especially since I'm only about 5'10. As i mentioned before, the Van Dutch did not have the best handling characteristics.
When I saw the wally again in person I knew I loved it again. I think it has all the style and more that I love. It's an absolutely comfortable ride, and absolutely smooth and solid when it gets choppy. In Govt Cut here in Miami the waves stacked up pretty high at some points especially with some larger ships coming in and out and all the boat show traffic. I would say that it was about 4-5 typically and got up to 8 foot seas and we just barreled through it with such grace. The Wally Tender also handles great, with very tight turning capabilities, the nose never comes up high. In other words, it remains pretty flat when you go from idle to planing speed.
As far as comfort, it has all the space I would want in a day boat for Miami. Great sun pads, and a great layout. The only downfalls I can see are the lack of a table for lunch (but who really needs that anyway), and the T top and extendable Bimini Top are see through, they provide great shade but will let water through if it starts to rain. That's an easy fix though. Also, there is a lack of cup holders which is also a down side and easily fixable.
I think I'm going to go see a used one that's for sale in Nassau. Not saying that we may buy one soon, just curious and perhaps something may or may not happen.
Also, I have set up a sea trial with a J Craft for next week. I saw it at the show, and the pics don't do it justice. A stunning boat. Here are some iPhone pics I took of the Wally Tender this time around.

Greetings all, what a truly stunning forum!
A friend of mine recommended this thread to me and I'm glad since I feel nothing but love for this tender. My family got one of these for our place down in Croatia last June so we're soon to celebrate itīs first anniversary.
Itīs truly a nice vessel and I've so far acquired around 15 hours behind the wheel. I have yet to experience anything that runs so well on the sea. Itīs no challenge at all to have an espresso while cruise at 25 knots thanks to the shape, weight and power of the tender.
Our Wally is a 2003 model so it's not as good condition as the one on the pictures above, the hull is somewhat "weathered". The Tender is as we speak receiving maintenance on the teakdeck, hull and a minor paintjob.
It doesnt have the double birth cabin only the bathroom which is accessed the front. The lack of sleeping cabin doesn't really concern us since when we actually use the boat we haven't been less than 4 people aboard. We mainly use it for commuting around the Adriatic archipelago having lunch at restaurants or spending a few nights at hotels.
Since Croatia has the most sun-hours per year in Europe it's really a great place to have it.
It sports 2x 420bhp v8:s and gets us easily in the 40+ knots range (havenīt maxed).
Anther fun anecdote is that the original registration documents will tell us that the boat originally was purchased by S.Berlusconi!
I'll attach some pictures, you'll have to excuse me and my friends beeing all over them =).
My friend kickin it up front
