Evo X vs STi

Evo X vs STi

Very similar cars which make it very difficult to choose between them… I will be looking to replace one of my FJ towards the end of this quarter and want a nice small car to drive around town and the track.

Both cost approximately the same to buy and can be modified to perform nicely on BIC. For track purposes the Evo will perform better in my view but the STi looks and feels so much better in town.
Which would you go for and why??

STi hands down. the Evo lost its soul in the X, they should have called it lancer SS or something since its anything BUT an EVO.

STi is better equipped and drives much nicer in take me to the office mode, and dare I say the dealer is better than that of the lancer?

I'd still go for the Evo X, I took it out a while back for a test drive and it actually was nice, I'd tell you to go for the STi if you were in europe maybe(although i havent driven it) and dont ask me y europe, i just feel it looks slicker over there with all the trees and greenery, haha. But Bahrain, an evo fits.

STi....not a big fan of the X. Like Edbhr said, they lost the Evo soul with the X

Only thing that tips the scale in favor of the EVO is that the local dealer is offering engine upgrades that will be covered by warranty. I nearly pulled the trigger on one of those after test-driving the manual FQ-360. If both were stock, I'd probably choose the STI just because it looks better im my eyes. Curvy STI rules over origami shaped EVO!

I havent driven the STi personally but have tried out the Evo X on the track and its not bad. I'm an evo man personally. Strip out the car completely and some simple track mods will turn that car into a perfect track weapon. But since its intended for street use aswell. Best advice bro is to drive them both yourself and see which one feels better to drive everday. Both have lots of potential. Good luck!!

I was in the same boat..

Went to see the STI is was ok, interior is nicer, was almost 15k bd and no warranty.

Then went to see the Evo, it looks more aggressive from outside, I test drove one with a SST transmission and fell in love. Price was 17k and 3 yr warranty. I was so so close to pull the trigger until the porscha came along, and the rest was history....

If you ask me now which I will get to sit aside my porscha, easy... I will get a Manual FQ360 from the dealer with warranty

Good luck and keep us informed.
