Evo X vs STi
#62
Flat turbocharged engine doesn't like heat.
I have already see a STI after a race track session during a very hot day in France (30°C) the oil engine after 45min is black. The oil warn in the engine.
The exhaust manifold, lost many power because it's too long (check the formula of power turbine).
And a top engine mounted intercooler is not as efficient as a front intercooler. => that why subaru try to balance with a water spray on intercooler
And ask to F1 team, how many they increase the cooling way of the Bahrain GP.
I think the cooling at low speed is the key in hot country.
By the EVO isn't a wonderful solution, there have some problem after HKS tuning for time attack (manifold fire)

Thanx bro...
what some of the guys here ended up doing is moving the intercooler to the front... that seemed to work. I will check with a few guys here that track and/or drag race to see what they have done

Evos are tuned pig-rich from the factory. Once you add an exhaust, intake, and a reflash, not only does power go WAY up, but the mileage is much improved. I drove my modified Evo VIII cross-country in 2003 and got 28 mpg - with the same 5-speed and 3800 rpms at 80.

I drove an 04, 05, 06, and 07 STI. I haven't driven the new STI yet, I really have no desire to, not a fan of the hatchback look. I also have driven the EVO XIII and IX. I was looking at the Evo X yesterday. I really want an 06-07 STI for $24,000 with under 40k, but the STI I am finding have more miles for more money. I have a few more months left on my lease on my WRX if I can't find a 06-07 STI I will probably get the Evo X.
