Sweet baby Jesus I bet that thing is fun.
Friend of mine has a Yeti 303 with a Dorado fork. He says it's a blast. I've always wanted to try DH...or even XC but I've never gotten around to it.

DH and FR is awesome! XC is different, more mellow generally and about being out in nature and putting in work. Think cross country skiing vs. lift skiing at a resort.

RE: solid fork, you need to find out your current fork length and order one the has the same effective length. Common are 80mm, 100mm and 120 mm. Make sure what you buy uses the same brake mounts, c brake or disc.
Finally you'll need to make sure you remove the crown race from the old fork and install it on the new one.
