I heard it's garbage for anyone who legitimately cares about fitness, but idk how reliable the source is..

i think its more of a trend than it is for function

True that, thats what I gathered from my research..

It seems like the fitbit is more practical.. I'm trying it out and will report back

I've been using one for a couple weeks now and I can't really tell if it really works or not but I think that it does help "motivate" me in some ways so I guess to me it is an effective tool.

I always do...in any form to keep me motivated even more. I'm also a bit skeptical about whether the FuelBand really works or not. I wore it on a multi-day Porsche drive recently and I noticed that I had accumulated twice as many "Fuel" as usual after a full day of driving.

Jason beats off to photos of people jumping in the air, wouldn't exactly call him a reliable source

Yon, ouch. Harsh much? Not sure I could call you a reliable source either. What? With all your drinking habits.

Fitbit uses an accelerometer just like the fuel band... Only difference is it doesn't update you in real time. It does have more functionality (sleep monitoring) but all I'm trying to do is figure out my calories/distance etc on days I work out. Not trying to wear it 24/7

I have had a fuel band for quite awhile now and like it a lot. I anticipate they will add heart rate monitor functionality at some point since it already has bluetooth.

what works is,...the placebo effect

which is an effect after all as well

so in same way that Fuelband BS gets the job done

If you use the fitbit online site and plug in your consumed calories, you get a net calorie surplus/deficit per day. That is the only thing that makes it different from the fuelband I think. It's all just fun and games at the end of the day
