No, clearly we can't. As for your competitive bodybuilding good luck with that. It still does not clarify the multiple posts where you've contradicted yourself. I'll take functional strength over a polished turd any day of the week.

Competitive bodybuilding is an entirely different genre from what I'm doing which is simply two things, stay healthy and train for a "competitive" race.

Good luck with that, ECB. I didn't see the postings that Ben was referring to, only the part where you said that Xfit was the basics. I can tell you however that Xfit is NOT for competitive bodybuilding. Not by a long shot.

A mod should change this to "The Crossfit Thread" and us rejects can start another thread for poor fitness concepts

+1. I'd rather be able to do a task, than to look like I can do a task.

I think some of you overestimate the benefits of crossfit vs. a different structure of workout. I think this is mainly due to the fact that a lot of it depends on HOW you do the workout, form, and so on. Now I have read that "crossfit would never stress time over form" but I know almost positively that every poster in this thread is human and therefore "perfect form" just isn't happening in every situation.

Just because you do power cleans, use kettle bells, and run doesn't mean you're the most functional person in the world. It's a great basic and functional workout, keyword being "basic" since you can go much much further than what crossfit offers to develop functional strength. Don't even get me started on those garbage kipping pull ups which were developed by gymnasts as a skill for getting on the bars. FYI, elite gymnasts practice dead hang pull ups because that is what builds the strength they need. That is straight out of a former Olympic coach's program.

Please keep in mind my car has 1200 internet horsepower and I can run an internet mile in under 3min flat.

Correct. Perfect form is near impossible ever time. Even with muscle memory after a long time of doing the exorcise, you will still have weak points, but form is one of the biggest priorities in our sessions at least. Practice makes perfect right? The struct of crossfit is what makes it so beneficial. Constant movement, using all of your muscles throughout the workout, all with a high intensity make it what it is. If you did all of the same in a 'standard' workout, taking regular breaks and sets of one thing at a time, you wouldn't see the same results. As far as overestimating goes, I don't know of any other routine that will get you in shape and improve upon that as much as CrossFit in 60 minutes a day. Maybe P90x, but most people who I've talke to that have tried both prefer CrossFit.

Again, valid point. I think ben was comparing crossfit, to muscle building. A lot of guys walk around with big muscles and get huge, but only focus on a couple key exorcises to build size, rather than strength and when you callu pon them to do anything other than those specific movements, they can't on a level even close to what they could. As for the kipping pullups and gymnastics, CrossFit ties in a number of gymnastic exorcises (think rings). The pullups are a core exorcise, rather than strictly arm.
