There is MUCH more to driving than shifting. Do you think you're as good as Sébastien Loeb now? Lewis Hamilton? Allan McNish? They all race professionally without a clutch pedal. Try to drive a PDK GT3 fast in the rain and then report back to me. I guarantee that this car will still separate the men from the boys, the drivers from the posers.

Yes, it's sad that this car is losing a manual OPTION, but just because it went PDK doesn't mean that it's in the same league as a GT-R (four wheel drive, front engine, turbocharged, 1700kg).

 

So much for a 991 gt3 being in my future. I'm sure the PDK version will be great, but I, along with many others I'm sure, would prefer a manual option.

 

Manual for me please. Looks like my dream gt3, 997.2 would still be 110k when I can afford it.

 

Talking about cup cars and PDK, in this video (that was posted some time back) there are 2 cars - one with headlights on and other with it off and they have different body kits too. But I just noticed that the shifts sound different too. While one sounds like the present day sequential the other sounds more seamless like the PDK. Listen around 50s and 1:05 in to the video to hear both cars on the same portion of the track.

 

New chin spoiler does look great though creeping up the wheel arch

Just had breakfast with the owner of the sole Porsche/Lambo/Bentley importer here in my country. He just got back from a global dealer's conference, with over 200 dealers in attendance. they were even taken to the 'Ring and there were-- get this-- 140 cars for them to do laps in. miraculously, only about 2 cars crashed (though there were lead cars, so imagine if there were no lead cars).

ANYWAY, the point is, he confirmed that GT3 will be PDK only.

when this was the formal announcement to them, he said SO MANY dealers from all over the world were asking "why", etc, etc... but regardless, he said they were told they will only get the GT3 in PDK. no manual option.

he does not know about the RS.

other info I was able to get from him: the 991 Turbo will have about 530HP, and unlike with the 997, the Turbo S version will be sold very shortly after the base Turbo. the "S" will have 560HP.

so there you go...

this person is very well connected with the top guys at Porsche and Lambo, and his news has never been wrong. so... i'm inclined to say that's that on the "will the GT3 have a manual" question.

i hope he was wrong but i highly doubt it at this point.

maybe after selling 6 months of pdk cars....porsche pulls the old move "due to popular demand...we will be releasing a manual option for gt3, at the option charge of 4k".
