3L/100km?
Only if you are using combustion engine as a generator
And who is buying a car like this to drive slowly around town
Ecology-918 cars will not make much difference on global scale
Ok,on the open road driven normally it may reduce fuel consumption dramatically, but asking price put it only within the reach of people who couldnt care less about it
What this car does is paving a road to the future(completely wrong one but thats just my opinion not the facts)so we can one day have normal family cars using 3L/100km
Completely agree with eztader-junk all the hybrid crap, save some weight, slash the price for half a million and call THAT Weissach package

3700 complicated (all the hybrid crap) pounds. $700,000 or so dollars. All I see is a wallet raping for cars and coffee bubble wrappers. Leaves me cold and totally uninterested.
A terrible decision for Porsche to have wasted the time and money to develop this albatross.
There is my honest, no BS opinion...

What I understand is this car is nothing but a status symbol like some $30,000 wrist watch and that the "Weissach Package" is simply another iteration of the fine method Porsche uses to extract more profit from less. I also understand how exceedingly rare it will be for one of these heavyweights to ever see a track much less be tracked with skill and gusto.
How many 4.0 owners track them? Yeah, right...
Koolaid drinkers feel free to live the fantasy. The 918 is heavy, complicated and ridiculously expensive for the value proposition it offers. I've no reason to join the cheerleading squad.

Now bring on the real enthusiast's version....
A bit busy for my taste. RUF's CTR3 still looks better and more purposeful IMHO.

By the way, the 918 design is great - execpt for the rear - the mechaniws etc - for me not attractive..wouldnt buy one - if I had the money...

Hi Carrera, I have been asking myself the same question - they didnt do that with the 981 or the 991..so for me the only evident conclusion could be that - there is almost no interest in the car and that in order to get it sold before Mclaren P1 and Ferrari Enzo will humiliate the 918 - they are creating as much as possible media attention for it. Either this thing sells now..or never...in 2 years nobody wants to have it anymore..except some Porsche collectors..and if they cant get the 918 units sold..and lets say only 700 - then it might have been the last super car project from them...
