People want pdk because it is hard to eat, text, drink your latte... And drive. |
I'm starting to think that this rumor was leaked in an effort to sell the remaining 997 GT cars, due to a consumer belief that there would never be another manual GT Porsche. GTCole is nothing but a Porsche spy in odd colored cross trainers. His name should be changed to GTMole. |

It will be a sad day in the world of motoring if an icon such as the GT3 eliminates the manual transmission. |
porsche may be sad when they realise how much business they loose |

I am not sure about that. I asked few GT3/RS owners & they said yes. I also asked GT3 owner here on forum and he said yes. All GT3/RS owners like that 458 Italia feeling & they want it in next GT3. That is raw fact. Other stories are fans related & not so important for Porsche :( No hydraulic steering in 911 anymore - as I can see, buyers dont complain, in fact 991 will be best selling 911 ever! I know enough owners of GT2/GT3 that want a manual box..including myself..by the way 100% of the GT3s are now manual..so Porsche would be turning against its custonmers..if these customers wanted absolutly paddle shift, they would have never bought an GT3. Besides, I doubt that a PDK one will last 40,000km of full thunder on any ractrack..just look at the gearboxes in the motorsport and you know how long they could last.. |
The last comparison is little bit strange @ horse.. Sure in motorsports the transmissions last only some few kilometers but they are designed that way! If Porsche is offering the PDK in the GT3, the transmission will hold. 100%. If the PDK can work with the torque of the Turbo S, I don't see a big problem.. the PDK shifts are fast, it doesn't matter if you are on a racetrack or not. But I'm totally with you while saying that Porsche would turn against their customers. At least some GT3 have been bought because of the manual gearbox. We just have to wait to get the first shot of the interior of the car to see which shifter is in the middle. I kinda like the idea of both boxes available.. after some few years they will know which box they should offer. I guess 70%+ will be PDK. |
I've been told that it's officially only a PDK. I am very reluctant to believe those words, but it was a decent source. |
