I want to see a 911 with bolt-on fender flares again. Assuming, of course, it comes with a manual gearbox - otherwise I wouldn't give two shits about it.

Talking Gt3

Hi Guys,

Just a few thoughts of my side to the 991 GT3:

I attended the Porsche Sport Cup a few weeks ago in Spa and my Porche Centre boss who owns 4 centres in Germany told me the 991 GT3 will be more due in 2014 than 2013..it will the last variant of the 991 roll out..makes sense because Porsche is still using the current GT3 RSR etc until end of 2013. He also told me by the way that many customers of him are "not amused" with the 991..but thats a different story.

Coming back the 991 GT3:
- 9A1 engine probably with 450 HP, Cup version with 480..thats more or less sure what I know
- current 997 GT3 will run until end of 2013 season...yes this year wasnt so goode but often they just had bad luck too..Im cant wait to see whath the new gearbox wil do next year
- chassis 991 GT3 - I dont know what about PDCC...I think this will be forbidden on racing cars...so probably not for the 991 gt3 either
- steering: samer argument I thik for electric steering - according to my knowledge also forbidden..
- gearbox: manual - very likely 6 speed..

The really big risk they are running is the engine...the difference between motorsport and street is that every little detail can make you became last and the whole world will see it..what if Porsche in the first reaces has problems -? which can be expected..nobody showed up in motorsport with a new engine/car etc and won on the first day..except some exceptions.

I would definatley not buy a 991 GT3..maybe a 991.2 GT3

^^ Apparently the 2011 season RSRs were slower than the 2010 cars, but the problems have been sorted out for the 2012 cars and the RSRs will be back on top (notice how well Porsche did on the last few ALMS races).

BTW, you say electric steering would be forbidden, but isn't it already used on the 997 cup cars and RSRs?

Hi Carrera,

well,,I heard that about the 2010/2011 cars too...but why was that..what the heck was Porsche doing?

Anway, lets hope the 997 beast strikes back in 2012..yes the last ALMS races are a very positive sign..and with the new gearbox...it could maybe dust the 458s...by the way...they were very good at the beginning of the season but then they also started to have problems..

Well, what I know is that electric power support via electric motors for race cars is certainly forbidden..like electr. diff, like all kinds of electric chassis tune up..otherwise we would end up like F1..too expensive and everybody would drop out..and your RSR woudl suddenly cost 1 million US $

take care
