Porsche plans Ferrari 458 rival

I highly oppose this idea, although I know its going to be one hell of a car. I don't know why Porsche is deciding to kill off the legend by introducing a model above the 911 as a -non limited edition car. I can see the reason why Porsche has decided not to use the GT3 and the RS with the exception of the turbo-ed GT2 RS as a 458 rival. How much can Porsche really pump out with the flat 6, especially NA? Even if they decide to put in a flat 8, or a V8 (doubt so in a future 911) it will be too heavy and the power that comes with it, the 911s will be pulling wheelies every time off the line.
For the reason I find more fitting is that Porsche should position the 911 Turbo as the rival of said cars, use boxer 4 engines for lightening up the rear and hopefully less carbon dioxides. With Porsche trying to be green as possible I see this is not such a crazy idea this day. As crazy as that may sound with the boxer 4, I think the 911 could live on, instead of being bashed by its own marketing.

I understand that Porsche wants to compete with Ferrari in terms of price and more exotic looks, but what about performance? The current Turbo and Turbo S models are already on par with the 458 in this respect. The 997.2TT does 0-60mph in 3 seconds flat, and the Turbo S does it in a blistering 2.7 seconds, continuing on to a 10.8 1/4mile time. For reference, those figures are faster than the almighty Carrera GT. I know that there are many other factors that should be considered when discussing the overall performance of these machines, but I only used acceleration figures to demonstrate just how ridiculously fast the current Turbos already are.
I am curious what will happen to the next Turbo and GT2 (if there will be a new one) as a result of this new model that Porsche plans on introducing. Porsche always makes their new models faster and more superior from a performance standpoint, so what's their next step? This new model would have to not only look exotic and cost around $100k more than the Turbo, but it would also have to be faster. Will Porsche hold out a little on the next Turbo in order to make this new model shine?
It seems to me that Porsche will have to either take it easy with the next Turbo, or make this new model Bugatti fast, so to speak.

Also, if Porsche did come out with this new model, and it turned out to be insanely fast, as it would have to be, then where would the 918 Spyder fit in? I know that the company is going in a slightly different direction with the 918, with it being partly Hybrid and all, but how would that supercar compete with the rest of their line-up, in terms of performance?
This new model seems like it would really throw everything off balance in the Porsche line-up, although I am sure it would be one hell of a machine!

You're wrong. Why does it have to be faster than the Turbo? The Turbo is AWD, and has a lightning fast transmission which allows it to accelerate so quickly. The fact is the Turbo and this coming Porsche will be two totally different cars. One will be AWD with a TT F6 mounted in the rear, and the other will be a RWD with a (I hope) NA F8 mounted in the middle. Just because this car will cost more doesn't mean it will have to accelerate as quickly.
These two cars are totally different, and it's illogical to compare the coming rival to a Turbo, let alone a car that is only speculation as of now.
Stop thinking about acceleration as a key factor in car sales. The GT3 RS and Turbo are the same price, and the Turbo is faster than the GT3 RS in a straight line. Even with that said, I would take the GT3 RS every chance I had. Every car an automaker produces doesn't have to fill a gap or conform to a gap.
In my opinion, when an auto manufacturer bases all of their development on filling and conforming to gaps, the soul of the car ceases to exist. That is unfortunately what many automakers are doing today.

This new model is supposedly going to be a step higher than the 911, and so it should perform better than the 911 in every aspect.
I am not "thinking about acceleration as a key factor in car sales," but acceleration is a key factor of performance. In case you didn't read my entire post, I clearly said that, "I know that there are many other factors that should be considered when discussing the overall performance of these machines, but I only used acceleration figures to demonstrate just how ridiculously fast the current Turbos already are." I don't know why you mentioned the GT3RS. The GT3RS and the Turbo are both 911s that are priced similarly and offer very different driving experiences, which is obvious. I am aware that the Turbo is faster in a straight line, while the GT3RS is more fun to drive on the race track.
This new car, if it is released, will be on a whole new level, and it should perform as such, especially if it plans on taking on the 458 and MP4-12C. That is only logical.

Do the 458 and MP4-12C perform faster in a straight line than the Turbo? No. Has ANY other Porsche ever built been faster? No. While this car will have great performance, the fact is it just won't be faster than the Turbo in a straight line unless it has AWD, which it probably won't have. I mentioned the GT3 RS to show that a car's price shouldn't be based on acceleration in a straight line. Even though you did say there are other factors to consider, you simply did not consider them at all. G forces, acceleration without launch control, the clutch, how easily the engine revs, and tourque all are vital considerations. Most importantly though is the driving experience. Based on reviews, the 911 Turbo is very fast, but is also very staid. I.E Chris Harris drove one to 60 in less than 4 seconds in the wet while drinking a bottle of coke. While the much crazier and same priced GT3 RS was acclaimed by many magazines as the greatest car ever, even though it is much slower than a lot of cars out there. That alone proves performance alone shouldn't judge the price of a car.
If this car drives anything like a GT3, but with even more soul and dedication, I bet many would agree that Porsche can price it as high as they'd like. I don't by any mean want you to feel like I'm angrily coming at you, I'm just respectfully disagreeing.

Allow me to put in simple form what I was trying to say. I was trying to say that just because this car will be priced higher than the Turbo doesn't mean it will have to accelerate faster. Tell me that staement's wrong. Sorry if I was misunderstood or came on strong, it was just kind of hard to explain my point.
Who said I was 12?
