What exactly is the point of a supercar you can drive every day ? Its never going to be as comfortable as a true daily driver and never as exciting or interactive as a dedicated special event supercar like a carrera gt . If its just for showing off ( and not the thrill of driving ) buy a Bentley or Phantom surely ?
I want the hairs on the back of my head to stand up , I want to get out of the car at journeys end rushing with adrenaline . Adrenaline caused by interaction between man and machine , tactility and ME being in total control of MY supercar , not just sheer speed . I want to work like the Devil , balancing the car on a knife edge to get anywhere on a track , just man and machine . For sheer speed because of ground clearance and visibility issues and its 4wd a nissan gtr would be faster from a to b on normal roads than any of them anyway .
Thats why I cancelled my Mclaren order .
Two very well known european journalists I have spoken to in the last week have told me the Macca is undoubtedly a fantastic , almost perfect car BUT its not a car either would buy with their own money .
In fact even though you can turn driver aids off , its never really off as the diff action is replicated via the rear wheel braking from the tc system .
Thats not a supercar for me , I can see its appeal but its not something that interests me . Its horses for courses at the end of the day and to be fair they are very , very different cars.

UPDATE:
I had a deposit on a MP4. After a test drive 3 weeks ago. I decided to go forward and placed an order 2 days ago.
Specs: Volcano Orange with Stealth Super light weight wheels. CF interior, Lightweight exhaust.
Thanks to H20skier who answered my PM's. I love the CGT but owning something with a link to Senna(My racing hero), getting something new with a full warranty and concerns about the ability of the CGT front end surviving in my small town made me lean towards the MP4.
Thanks again...now the waiting game starts.

As with all of these threads....you should buy what you really want and can afford. No car is perfect but if you love it, you love it.
I voted with my dollars. The CGT is my favorite car next to an F1 but I didnt buy one. To me the CGT is a bit too precious to drive often and is now even a bit dated. The comments I got from owners were that they tired of the carbon bits having to be replaced due to bad valets and such.
I have driven the 12C about 10 miles so I certainly dont know how it really drives. I love McLAREN and I love the looks of the 12C. I love the heritage, the fight they give to Ferrari, and the precise way they do everything. To me it checks all the boxes and I believe is the best GT car out there.
The CGT will be a more rare car and history will show it to be more special.
You should ask yourself why you put down your deposit on the 12C and didnt just go out and get a CGT already?
