Porsche 993 GT2 Evolution

Classic Driver - CARS FOR SALE - Cars

One of only 21 Cars Produced by Porsche AG

“993” was the company's internal name for the version of the Porsche 911 model manufactured and sold between late 1993 and 1998. This was the final model of the air-cooled engine cars which are regarded by many as the last “real” Porsches.

Like the previous and current generation of the Porsche 911, there were several variants of the car manufactured, varying in body style, drive-trains, and technical specification. The ultimate model within the range has always been the GT2.

The GT2 is the racing version of the 911 model range. By the mid-1990s most of the sanctioning bodies of road racing had placed severe limitations, if not outright bans on the use of all-wheel drive systems. It was in this atmosphere that in order to take their turbo-engine 993 racing. Porsche created the RWD-only GT2. The deletion of the front drive-train also brought with it the benefit of significant weight savings to the competition car. To qualify the car for racing a limited number (57 in total) of street GT2s were created for homologation purposes, which are now highly prized and valued by Porsche 993 collectors.

In 1998 the factory announced the most highly sought after GT2 model of all, arguably the most special limited production car Porsche have ever made - The Evolution was introduced to homologate a more extreme racing version, the road going model was available by special request only and the factory produced just 21 cars!

Our car was manufactured in 1998 and supplied new to Rolf Savelsberg of Jülich, Germany on the 12th May by the Porsche Centre in Aachen. It had a further 2 owners prior to being acquired by us in 2007 when we supplied the car to the last owner. Accompanying the car is the original handbook pack, service history; drivers supplement manual & wallet, immobiliser kit and spare keys and comprehensive service history.

A unique opportunity to own one of only 21 road going versions of a 993 GT2 Evolution with only 24,100 miles from new, is without doubt is one of the finest and most highly collectable 911’s of all time.

$462,295.00

That brings back some memories!

I bought that car from the Porsche Dealer in Aachen in July 2004,back then with the exchange rate I paid £85k GBP. It had done around 21k klms from memory.

They've done a good job of removing the Clubsport replica welded roll cage I had fitted.

It's very overpriced however, around £175k is the market value.

Here's a few shots from my ownership, the first two are the day I collected if from Aachen:

911TurboS2 is an unknown quantity at this point
I raced a 993 GT2 Evo, and they were great cars. Less expensive than the street version.
