Porsche can do so much more to further lighten the car such as BBS forged wheel & full Akrapovic titanium exhaust just to name few... instead it's just like others late models with the same parts.

the car is cool. i don't think it's worth the extra money for people have 3.8 RS to upgrade. i decided not to buy the 3.8 because of this car so at least i can have a choice. just waiting to see the final price. if it tops 210k with options, then like others have said, there are quite a few other good choices for different purpose.
+1

Totally agree with you buddy!

Its quite astonishing that they have all this information of the realistic things people would want yet - as far as the Pdealer here says as well - Porsche will unfortunately under-deliver with this car. They have so much racing pedigree so I cant see it being that difficult to translate it to a 3RS LE, but...but I guess Ill wait till tomorrow and hope for a pleasant surprise :P
That herein lies the problem. Porsche have admitted to constantly monitoring the boards in the past. If they would have incorporated some of the ideas in this thread or over at Rennlist, it would prove they truly listen to the customer's voice.

BMW //M does this as well...
and the answer to the question why the did not add this or that to car x is that it would be too expensive in development and production, which would rise the base price even higher

maybe Porsche also thinks like that and wants to make a compromise between sane pricing and new features...
anyway...
We`ve never been disappointed by a new RS and I`m sure this one won`t disappoint us either!
The biggest changes will reveal when it comes to the handling(turn in,chassis stiffness etc)and I`m sure it will suprise many people just as positive as the 2RS did

Too expensive? Sorry, LMAO. Most of the parts we mention, are either readily available (BBS/Akrapovic to name two and are partners with Porsche) or in the Porsche parts bin (from Motorsports, etc.). Nothing new really needed to be developed...

Now, if it's certification for crash testing, safety, etc., I have no argument there...

^^ Maybe it was already too late to change anything after this thread speculation really kicked off. The leaked pictures of the car were probably taken in late 2010.

You're the person who really kicked that speculation off, saying an important Porsche racing driver said the 991 will be a V8 no questions asked, but in reality, it is a flat-6, as a member here looked under the rear end of a 991 prototype and counted 6 exhausts.

tell that Porsche..
It`s just something the //M guys said and I think Porsche uses the same "arguments" as excuses/explanation

You also have to remember that these are mass production cars that have some limitations for what can be allowed on a street car. So even though there are things that can be further done the lighten The car it might not make sense from a marketing standpoint. I would think that in-house is cheaper then sourcing an expensive lightweight louder (sound regulation issue maybe) exhaust, not to mention the pricey BBS wheels.
