If Walter can drive it fast enough, the production 918 will get at least a 7:26 time. Remember though, the GT2 RS is a purpose built car for the track, where as the 918 Spyder has a purpose of being highly efficient, yet still very fast.
from Prof. Ferdinand Piëch
the RING time of 918 is 7:20

DJ -check the URL's of the guests. I'm sure its 400 Porsche Engineers and Dev's wondering who's going to pull the trigger!

A friend told me last night he was offered a build slot at our local dealer for a 918. He's NEVER bought a car from them

It would be nice if it was below 500k, but IMO, The CGT was 450k, This car is going to have almost twice the technology and even greater performance than the CGT, so I think it's probably unlikely that will happen. I think that realistically its going to go between 550k and 625k. Than again, it's not like I'm going to be buying the car so what do I know lol.

I think this is getting so many views because autoblog has a direct link to the attachment. It's 300 now, but the last time I checked it was more than 500!

Porsche will have to sell these out to break even with the R&D. In the short term, less R&D will be put into 911 and Boxster. In the long run after the 918s are sold, the technology will flow into future green variants of porsche.

When CGT and Cayenne were introduced, 911 development was hindered. PDK, engine development, navi should have been improved more in those years.
