It sounds possible. There are talks that CGT successor will be produced in strictly limited number to avoid overproduction which was a tough hit to the value of CGT. So, it could be launched earlier than 2012. But in any case they will not chase Veyron now, they will be building very light supercar with amazing power-to-weight ration, and astonishing acceleration numbers.

to the team Mohammed!! There is speculation and R&D in Germany are saying that the Porsche GT1, i.e. the Bugatti Killer, is in the design stages. They have mentioned that the earliest is late 2012 or early 2013. Source of this is German Auto.
Here is a picture of the proposed successor:
There is no official Porsche 911 GT1 out yet. But the guys at Autocar have released an image which is a little bit more than an artist's rendering - the picture you see on this page is based on leaked internal technical drawings. Oh, and they might have made a few minor changes to ensure Porsche doesn't go about suing them for publishing leaked information. Anyway, this picture is all we have to go by when it comes to the Bugatti-beater Porsche 911 GT1 till the company deigns to release something official.
For those who are new to the topic, let us introduce the mighty Porsche 911 GT1. The GT1 is directly targeted at the Bugatti Veyron, the current king of the road. The Bugatti Veyron has a top speed of 252 mph. The 950 bhp Porsche 911 GT1 will have a top speed of 254 mph - just two mph more. Not that anyone will actually get to drive either of these cars at those speeds.
The GT1 is actually a future Porsche Le Mans car - tuned to make it street-legal. The Bugatti Veyron actually is more powereful than the GT1 supercar in pure bhp terms - it makes 987 bhp to the GT1's 950.
Engines for the 911 GT1 are still being tested - but no one is sure about which engine will be used. It could be a turbocharged Porsche Carrera engine, or it could be the Cayenne's V8 engine suitably changed.
That's all for now. Savor the picture; we hope to have a photo gallery ready for you when a few more pictures or spyshots become available.
