IMHO, the "on the run" or "in hiding" theories just don't wash.

The truth is South Africa has no extradition treaty with Germany. If Uwe went to SA to escape creditors or even the German authorities, he wouldn't have to hide at all. He could live with his family in the open and not worry one whit about Germany or anyone in it.
And if he actually wanted to HIDE, why not someplace closer to his family?

And when I spoke to Uwe on 2/7, the day before he disappeared, we spoke about a new forged wheel program, for which he had just paid a sizable deposit.
I ask you, would a guy about to go on the run make a cash deposit on a program he had no intention of completing? Makes no sense.
