Michelin Vs. Pirelli

Michelin Vs. Pirelli
I would appreciate your feed back on the best Tires option available for the 997 GT3 RS....
"Michelin Vs. pirelli"
I have just noticed that the new GT3 RS comes with a totally different tire spec than the GT3... if I may recall, the tire size has always been the same for both cars (GT3 and the GT3 RS). Can anybody confirm this?
The new RS comes with 245/35 - 19 (front)
325/30- 19 (rear)
(That's one HELL of a tire)

Yes you are correct. I believe the wheels are the same size as the mk2 gt3, but with larger tyres and different offset to compensate. I was told at the Silverstone preview event that I could not spec the cups over the Pirelli’s. Apparently Porsche have a deal with both companies and have to offer an equal amount of tyres. Its a lottery sadly, as always use cups.

It seems the only Pirelli option that gets any use in the high performance car industry (whether from the factory or by individual owners) is the Corsa. The Michelin PS2 and Cup are both widely regarded as excellent tires.

I have worn out 13 sets of MPSC's on my GT3 in just over 37,000 miles, all road miles no track miles. I say "road" as I have roads where I live not streets. It's 70 miles anyway I drive to the first stop light. I just switched to the Pirelli Corsa system and fricken love them!! They heat-up faster then the MPSC's and are far superior in the rain and on the damp roads here on the coast. Stick better in the dry as well. Wish I would have switched 30,000 miles ago! Just my 2 cents!! I have PS2's on the 05 997s and don't like them on my roads and for my type of driving. Loving the pirelli's so far and have driven them in the rain, dry and on damp foggy roads. Their great tires, for me.
