Michelin Vs. Pirelli

How is it even remotely possible to go through a set of tires in ~2,800 miles? If you're changing your tires before your oil, I'd say there's something rather peculiar about your car and/or driving style.
I've routinely gotten in excess of 10,000 miles on a set of Cups with a hell of a lot of track time.

Are you talking about Pilot Sports?

I said Cups, I meant Cups, and I don't exactly drive "gently". I have a pretty aggressive alignment on the cars I've run them on. I get upwards of 25-30k out of a set of PS2s.

Numerous issues such as very unusual tire wear and the complete buckling of the tire's internal structure to where they had to be immediately replaced. Additionally, each Pirelli tire I've had has been completely outclassed in performance by the tire that either preceeded it or replaced it. It has been some time since I've owned a set, but like Continental, I would never willingly go near that brand again given the experiences I had.

Hi,
I tried them all Michelin Cup N0, Pirelli System and Pirelli Corsa on my GT2. The dimensions are 235 and 325. I use my car on country roads, autobahn and on tracks (Hockenheim, Nürburgring).
The first set originaly mounted were Pirelli System and I used them for 5000km (~3100mi). I liked the easy kind of driving if it was wet or dry. I always knows and sometimes heared the limits of this tire. Good feeling espacially for breaking on the track.
I changed to Michelin because everybody told me that this is the real performance tire for this car. I was disappointed because this tires needs more time to warm up and they are much more touchy. The Michelin abruptly lose tracktion if reach the limit. It was very difficult to find the limits. I killed them by a 720 degree turn in Hockenheim with 190 km/h. I had the Michelin before on other cars but the N0 specification killed the performance (the tire has to be good for 200 miles/h!)
Next try was Pirelli Corsa. This tire was slippery on my first rounds in Hockenheim when they were brand new. I played around with different preasure, because the tire warmed up very soon and I thought it is quickly overheated. I was told by a Porsche testdriver to heat them up two times and let them cool down totaly. After doing this the tire was perfect. The only thing I have noticed is the fact that this tire is worn on the 20% inside and outside the profile. I had to change them when the middle of the profile was still 70%. This is normaly a sign for less preasure but when I increased that I lost traktion and the tire overheated.
My summary is: If you want the best performance on tracks take the Pirelli Corsa and if you want to have an easy to handle, still very good tire for the road take the Pirelli System.
Sorry for my english, its not easy for me to explain that in right words. I hope that helps you
