I've had bad experiences with every Pirelli tire I have used, from sports cars to SUVs.

They heat-up faster then the MPSC's and are far superior in the rain and on the damp roads here on the coast. Stick better in the dry as well. Wish I would have switched 30,000 miles ago! Just my 2 cents!! I have PS2's on the 05 997s and don't like them on my roads and for my type of driving. Loving the pirelli's so far and have driven them in the rain, dry and on damp foggy roads. Their great tires, for me.
Snowboarder, can you say which Mich cup tyres you have been using and sizes ?
The NO cups on my 7GT2 seem to be lasting much better than your experience above and have been excellent in winter weather in the UK.... I wonder whether the newer CUP NOs are different to the Cups fitted to the GT3s ?

03-turbo911 knows what he is talking about...

And I think member Sal GT3 RS will second the statement

Both members have GT3 RS-s and used them on the street and on the track...

TB, Only OEM NO rated MPSC's. Don't get me wrong, I like the MPSC's, it's just that take a long time to get up to temp and I drive my cars hard so the tires don't last long. As stated we have only roads here not streets and very little law-enforcement. The pirelli's don't take as long to start getting sticky and so far seem to me wearing better. I will report back once I wear a set out. Here's a sample of my "roads":

first time i have heard that anything from pirelli is better than the cups. never had a better tyre than the cup for my CSL but know the N0's are not quite as hardcore - more like a cup+ tyre.

They do but it's not advertised. You get these from Pirelli Motorsport.

Josh, How do you define a "bad experience"? Sliding off the road due to poor grip, flats, blow-outs or ???

Numerous issues such as very unusual tire wear and the complete buckling of the tire's internal structure to where they had to be immediately replaced. Additionally, each Pirelli tire I've had has been completely outclassed in performance by the tire that either preceeded it or replaced it. It has been some time since I've owned a set, but like Continental, I would never willingly go near that brand again given the experiences I had.

How is it even remotely possible to go through a set of tires in ~2,800 miles? If you're changing your tires before your oil, I'd say there's something rather peculiar about your car and/or driving style.

I've routinely gotten in excess of 10,000 miles on a set of Cups with a hell of a lot of track time.
