CGT Design Flaw??

It's a design flaw in the sense that Porsche clearly thought the CGT customers would be 100% petrolheads with the skill of Michael Schumacher and not what 99% of them are in reality, rich people with a penchant for fast cars.

In my perspective, I think that CGT is an astonishing car that will go down in the books as one of the best cars of all time. The car is very capable, fast, and spectacular and i think its unfair for people to blame porsche or the car for them trying to push the car and they're still unexperienced to drive the car at that level. The owner's should be more careful and take gradual steps when trying to learn to use the car at it's full potential or how to drive it at that level.

just imagine what the press would be if Porsche had added ESP to a purpose built car? ...and it being so intrusive that you actually could not spin/drift the car?
Maybe Porsche should stop building even the Cayenne Turbo S because it is not the most stable car either even with all electronics turned on and you just floored in a sharp turn.

Old thread but finally got some more time in my CGT today with our weather you have to take advantage to any dry days this time of year.
Cold Roads, Cold Tires and a nice casual drive through the woods made me appreciate this car even more. A blink and a blip of the throttle and it accelerated through 4th gear and 7000 rpms like I didn't even try.
This car is superb. Better than I remember from a few years ago and an hour long test drive. The acceleration of this car is perfect and linear like a true sports car should be. The car reacts exactly how it should. It's tracking is outstanding. You floor it and you are dead. You squeeze the throttle on and it does exactly what it's told. Throttle it up at the apex and you are done. Squeeze it on about 80% through the corner and you are rewarded with a rear end that will step out if asked or maintain it's course with proper throttle control. Very much the closest thing to any racecar I've ever driven and it's Road legal
Design Flaw? Nope this car handles as intended.
I agree with everyone on this side of the fence. I also agree with most that these cars too often end up in the hands of guys with more money than brains.
You can't get hurt in a car if it is used to YOUR potential.
I waited 24 months plus because I always felt these cars were a touch overpriced and wanted them to hit the 300k mark. I'm not sad that I didn't own one for this time period. I will now savor every mile and enjoy the time spent behind the wheel, like today with 3 friends and some nice roads on a cold winter Sunday afternoon.
thanks for the drive today kuzi, stokpro and atomic 80. Time well spent.
Please if you buy one of these badboys. A) Respect it B) Love it and C) Respect it. This car is crazy good. I'd bet there are really only about 15-20 people in this world that can drive it to it's potential. I'd recommend this car to anyone willing to realize they aren't one of them. Drive it to your skill set and you will smile for a day afterwards or maybe even more.

"The Porsche Carrera GT has been involved in at least 38 accidents since production began in 2004. Porsche had originally planned to produce 1,500 Carrera GTs, but they discontinued the model in 2006 after producing only 1,270, citing new airbag regulations. Porsche recently paid a settlement of $4.5 million to the family of a man killed in a Porsche Carrera GT accident. The lawsuit claimed the Carrera GT was not a safe car at high speeds. "

I was talking to my friend who is a professional driver and his comment was "both myself and Randy Probst have lost and spun Carrera GT's, it's a very difficult car at the limit and very little warning".
Seems that the Ferrari chat was mistaking traction control for stability control. Big difference...

And the F40 has no TC, SC, airbags, power steering, power brakes, ESP, etc, etc. Sorry if this sounds petulant, but I guess somebody crashing an F40 would consider that car to have design flaws too?
In my book, it's never about the car and always about how the human drives it. Drive within your ability, you're good to go. Treat it like a plaything and and get ready to be played with in return. It's all in the brain/foot/hand interface for me, nothing else.
Like any recreational drug (that's what a CGT or F40 is, right?), it helps to know your limits. Drinking two beers is ok, but not two bottles of scotch. Most cars are like a beer, one or two won't hurt you. A CGT is like a bottle of single-malt, don't start downing multiple shots. Smooth and progressive inputs with the CGT are ok (for us amateurs anyway), anything else could lead to an overdose.
