Maybach?

I appreciate all the feedback so far guys. I'm only looking at the 57 since the used car prices have came down pretty dramatically. The 62 is a different story in terms of rear seat comfort, but I'm not considering that model since I will be the one driving. It'll be moreorless a daily driver for me. Anyway, it's not for sure yet. I've still got a few daily considerations, of which one is also an '07 S600. Somehow dollar for dollar, the S600 seems to put the Maybach to shame. Agreed the backseat is where it's all about on the Maybach (esp on the 62), but what about from the drivers seat?

MB only sold 146 Maybachs world-wide last year. They projected sales of over 1500.
Reports are that they only sold 6 - that SIX - worldwide in September 2008.
It is officially the worst performing division in MB history . . .
The rumor is that they will kill the division soon. So buy now if you want one.
Daimler May Pull Plug On Maybach
If you want BIG and luxurious, look at Bentley or good old Rolls Royce. The Maybach is gonna kick the bucket soon.
You don't want to be the guy that bought the last Edsel.

Maybach is worlds better then the 04-06 S-class.
That said, a 04/05 57 will cost you about the same as a 08 S65. I would take the S65 personally. If you were talking about a 62 that would change things a little. Do you plan on driving it yourself? If yes, S65 hands down. You can also pick up a Phantom for the same range, I would take that over either of the aforementioned if you plan on driving yourself.

I think if you are getting a Maybach it's going to scream "look at me". Not as much as a Phantom, but still...

i would have to disagree, most people won't have a clue as to what it is. it looks so similar to an s class most would probably classify it as such. it has an overall subdued design and the earlier ones had no badging on the boot lid. let me put it this way, as far as cars of that caliber are concerned it is the least flamboyant of the bunch.
