Maybach?

Maybach?
Does anyone have any experience with Maybachs from an ownership point of view? Or even just having been in one? Particularly the 57.
I've always viewed them as a souped up S600 from 2004~2006. Seems like the same engine, with slightly modified exterior and somewhat different interior.
Are these cars worth their weight or have the newer (current) S-classes made the Maybachs of old pointless?

The Maybach, especially the 62 cannot be compared to the W220 S-class. The cars are completely different, despite sharing a few bits and pieces.
The interior isn't just somewhat different, it's ALOT different.

Sit in a Maybach for 2 minutes and you will never put it in the same category as a benz again... Worth the money? Who knows anymore whats worth what but it is absolutely without a doubt the nicest most comfortable car I've ever ridden in (I was driven in a 62 for a day). Phantoms I think are more "cool" but if I had the money to have a driver and had to spend a lot of time in the car the Maybach would be the ultimate.

Maybach is worlds better then the 04-06 S-class.
That said, a 04/05 57 will cost you about the same as a 08 S65. I would take the S65 personally. If you were talking about a 62 that would change things a little. Do you plan on driving it yourself? If yes, S65 hands down. You can also pick up a Phantom for the same range, I would take that over either of the aforementioned if you plan on driving yourself.

No new Maybach has been announced except for the 62 Laundet for 2009 I posted. It has been speculated in 2010 the new Maybach is being released. I would personally not get a Maybach now, Having to wait 6 months for the delivery after customizing it, knowing the new one is comming within a year is just something I woulnt be able to take.
Why exactly are you looking at the 57 in specific? Why not the 62? Are you looking for a car to be driven in or drive personally?
