5-Series GT Private Showing at Dealer *Pics*

Last night I was invited to a private showing of the 2010 BMW 5-Series Gran Turismo at Hendrick BMW in Charlotte. After the showing last night this pre-production model will be flown to Italy for another showing. I spoke to the representative from BMW and he said there are only 50 of these floating around right now. Most of the crowd was between the ages of 40 to 60. Judging by the buzz in the room, I believe this model will be successful with it's target audience.

What caught my eye first, was it's sporty stance, 7-Series style twin kidney grills, and new bright white LED angel eye DRLs. Once I sat inside my first thought was, BMW is moving in the right direction with their next generation of interiors. The materials were pleasing to the eye. This particular model had every option available. I could definitely see ques from it's 7-Series brother. The perforated Nappa leather seats were very comfortable. The features with the rear hatch and seat controls are pretty trick!

Pictures can only tell so much of the story. I was very surprised when I saw the 5 GT in the flesh.

Sorry I didn't get more pics my camera isn't the best. They also brought in a European spec pre-production X6 M. Both of these models have no VIN, and therefore have to be destroyed.

not a fan of these cross overs. to me, there is no point of being tall unless it holds more cargo.

these cars usually end up in museums or get stripped for parts. rarely are they "destroyed".

the new GT either sells like crazy or they have a great interest of customers in test drives....
Since last week I saw it several times a day and it really does look good.
Especially with those new Angel Eyes!!!
I need them!!
but they look different..I guess they won`t fit on other models

You're right. The rep told me some are saved as museum and factory showpieces. However, most have to be destroyed and parts are rarely stripped. He also told me they are mechanical nightmares in most cases.
