What Should I Do?
#31
My only concern is the true daily drivability of the car. I don't need or want a concours car - I want something that I can drive everyday without having to worry about huge, unexpected repair bills. I drive short distances during the week - a mile or two of stop-go at a time, with longer trips on the weekends, so I'm concerned about the engine's oil consumption, among other things.
Any have personal experience?

If I would be living in a country like the USA, than I would get something like the 993 or 964.
It's good that you're thinking about things like repair-bills and oil consumption before you're making your final decision, it means that you're not a show-off with no real interest in the car.
For people our age bills for small things here and there are not welcome.
If you think that you would be taking a big risk (financially) with the 993 than don't buy it, the M3 is a great car too.
But I think the 993 can be driven 2 miles a day without a problem, it's a Porsche, I don't think that they've ever been unreliable.
And I think that the experience of driving and owning a Porsche is something more special than it would be with a M3.
Did you already asked a dealership for a test-drive? That might have a big influence on your decision.

What about a '01-'02 BMW Z3 M Coupe? It's got the rarity, fun factor, and can definitely be driven reliably every day. The looks may not be for everyone but it's definitely a special car and with only 700 built, you'll have no problem selling it for at least what you paid for it down the road.
Just something to think about...

I'll be 21 in a few months, but I live in a country where I would have to pay over 3000€ (4000$) a year to taxes for a car like the M3 or 993, thats why I'm driving an Audi A3 Sportsback.

I haven't test driven one - neither local Porsche dealer has one on the lot, and I don't personally know any owners, unfortunately.

job security is not 100% and I`d say take it easy, enjoy life but don`t fall into the trap of wanting the best and all together immediately

I hear you - but I need some motivation to spend 20+ hours a day in my cube!

It's just tough finding one that fits my desired parameters - C2 (narrow body), 96 or later (varioram, no basket handle), coupe, stick, Guards red, well maintained - high(er) mileage not a problem if the car is clean and has no major issues

I drove an E92 M3 last weekend; I liked it and the price was very good so I called the dealer back ... they had just taken a deposit from someone else.
Yesterday I drove a '96 993. Not my desired color, but I put down a deposit immediately. Mine pending PPI!
