Land Rover D90 or Hummer H1?

Since my (well, my family's) locked and lifted '97 Land Cruiser died I have been in change of find a new SUV for the family. Really no one in my family cares about cars at all and I will drive it 99% of the time. Also, our Land Cruiser only had about 100K on it. Since 2005 it has only gone 25K though so it wasn't driven too much.

So now I am looking for a new SUV. We used the Land Cruiser for hauling stuff, bad weather, and occasional off road use. We have a 2,800 acre farm not too far away and I used the Land Cruiser exploring that place.

The two cars I have been looking at are a Land Rover Defender 90 and a Hummer H1. Has anyone owned either? What are your opinions of them.

Also, as a "fun" aspect I am only interested in soft tops.

H1 for sure. Just nothing better. I've spent a little time in an H1 on two occasions, and a lot of time in D90s. D90s are great, but you just can't imagine how great an H1 is. It's apples to walnuts. Everything about it just screams unstoppable. Just a complete blast to drive.

As much as I hate the H1, I have to agree with MexicoBlue. The H1 is pretty much perfect for what you've said you need it for. it will take a beating and still keep going.

Can't go wrong with any of these cars. I'd get the G cab and use it as a DD

It always amaze me how people seem to have relic, old and/or uncomfortable as their SUV criteria. You would never suggest a Fiat Tempra or a Volvo 144 when someone wanted input on a new sedan, but evidently all bets are off when it's about 4x4s.

Why not get a new Landcruiser? An X5? A Q7? An ML?

Looking 'cool' driving around a relic on a deserted 2,800 acre farm is your criteria then
