Question Your opinion regarding garages

Hi all
I am in the process of getting my house designed and would like your opinion with regards to the garage… should I go for

1) A hall/warehouse like garage that can take a number of cars with one entrance/exit.

2) A garage that has multi doors and seats one or two cars per port…

Please keep in mind that if I have a function that needs to be indoors, it can take place inside option one. Choice two however also has advantages, each port is a much controlled environment and can easily be cooled and cleaned… it also gives me flexibility in the sense that I can use a port to store other things

Thank you for your input

I've always been a fan of the hall/warehouse like garage with one door for the entrance/exit. Visually from the out side I think it looks a lot cleaner so to say and isn't so flashy.

I like Option 1. It just seems to be so much more than a garage in terms of usable space.

I would go for option one. That way you have way more space, functionality and secrecy.

Option 2 because that's how we do it in the GCC :P
It's a lot more functional and does away with the restriction of having to park the cars in a specific way, if it were Option 1. There are a few other reasons but I can't think of them at the moment.

It depends on how many cars you plan to have as a limit. If it is not more than 10 cars, option 2 makes more sense, but when you start going over that, the first one is far easier to manage and far more flexible storage-wise in the long term.

That is the problem I have in my current home. I have run out of space to simply add more garages. I am going for option 1 in the currently under construction home.

I'm thinking a big car bunker is the way to go. Can also get a turnstile for not a lot of money to increase the flexibility of parking.

CarTurner - car turntable - automobile carousel - Car Turntable - carturner

If faced with the decision, I would be torn too since I like both for the same reasons you do. Availability of space and the budget would be deciding factors.

With a nice sized budget and the right location (read: acreage) I would go for the large warehouse space with a wash bay, a few lifts, several seating areas with games (arcade, pool, darts, etc.). If located in an upscale sub division, I could practice some restraint going with the multiple door setup, still with lifts and a few other toys.

So no vote from me just yet.

Anybody here done a large garage under their house?? Talking at least 6-8 cars min? Be interested in seeing what people have done to store a lot of cars, besides a large separate building.
