If it runs Microsoft Word, that's all that matters. Honestly, either a white (base model) Macbook, or an HP from Best Buy or wherever. The Mac is THE computer to get right now, not sure how much that matters to her, or you.

As a high school student, i would love a mac, make sure it has enough space for music, and pictures, and all that good stuff! good luck HS is tough on us kids, lots of changes!
