It appears sennheiser is the overwhelming majority here. I'll give them a good listen. Thanks for the input guys.

I have the beats pro, if you travel a lot, don't buy it. The sound quality is very good tho.

Hmm forgot about this thread. Delayed the process due to leaving. I will be travel often, but also in noisy areas where the noise canceling is needed.

How about in ear monitors? Ultimate Ears and Shure are common brands. The foam does a great job blocking out noise. Unless you have a constant drone like on an airplane, I think the noise canceling feature is a gimmick. I've tried 3 different brands that I haven't been impressed by. Even with the over ear monitors, I like the sound quality with passive noise canceling is better.

I once got the foam tip stuck in my ear canal when I tried to pull the buds out of my ear. When I tried to get the tip out my finger only pushed it deeper. The AA flight attendant was able to get the tip out of my ear canal with tweezers, but after that scare I chucked the Shure phones in the bin and bought a pair of Bose QC3.

Lost the QC3s on a plane and have been using Nokia BH/905s ever since. Will get the Sennheiser PXC360 BT next.

Was it loose at all before that happened? That must have been quite a scare... glad it worked out!

For over the ear cans, I quite like the AudioTechnica M50's. One downside to the in ear monitors is you have to keep the foam tips clean since they go in your ear. I replaced them every couple weeks or so since I used them everyday.
