Printer Advice Needed
All -
I am tired of my crappy HP inkjets always shitting the bed - ink runs out too fast, won't stay aligned, etc. Here are the things I need/want in my next printer:
Wireless
Durable
Printer/Scanner
Long duration of toner/ink
Sharp colors
Quick black & white printing
At this point, I'll go for inkjet or laser. Color is nice to have, as is the scanner (not requirements). We don't print more than 100 pages per month, but I want the damn thing to work when I need it. The scanner would help for my wife's school stuff.
My budget is pretty open, but I don't need a workgroup printer unless that's really what it takes to get the job done. I'm hoping to spend $500 or less, but I can slide that to the right if necessary.
Thanks in advance!!
P.S. I did search CNET, Wired, etc. - none of them agree with each other (nor with the user reviews).

Chris, I may have some help for you. I buy high speed (50+ppm) laser printers at local auctions all the time. These are from companies going out of business, downsizing, moving, etc. and they generally are in great shape with relatively low copy counts. You don't need anything near that big, but they also always have tons of smaller desktop sized printers, both B/W and color.
When I get back into the office on Tues, I'll give you a call. I can also get unheard of deals on toner from my vendors - for your usage, one set would last a long, long time. I buy in bulk (pallets at a time) so I get insane pricing. Basically, I'm buying $4000 printers for $300-500, including toner and fuser, with only 100-200,000 pages. That seems like a lot, but I've got some that have seen well over 10,000,000 pages.
In other words, I think I could help you find a quality printer that would fit the bill and last you until you decided you didn't want it anymore, for a crazy good price.

If you stopped doing this, your printers wouldn't break so fast.

Hi,
How many copies a day are you doing? I lease my printer from FujiXerox and it works out quite cheap, the machine itself is worth quite a few thousand dollars, so I get good quality - no paying for consumables either (except my own paper).
Might be an option for you, but you'd probably need to be doing a decent volume to make it attractive.
Cheers,
Nik

At most we'd do a few hundred pages a month (mostly B&W), but I just want it to last. I'm tired of cheap-ass inkjets that break after a few months.
And no Roberto, I don't do that. At least not to printers.

That would work, too, but there are some times that my wife needs to print stuff in color for school (she's an elementary school teacher). For me, reliability is #1 followed by wireless capability.
