Question password help

Today I decided to turn on an HP laptop (runs on vista) that was given to me for christmas last year to start using it again for music/videos. I hadn't used it for about 6 months and as a result forgot the password. I called geek squad and they said they could wipe out the hard drive and fix it but I don't feel like going through all the hassle. Is there any way that way I can recover the password simply and easily? Any help would be greatly appreciated!

You can use a bootable disk and tools like locksmith to reset user/local administrator passwords. If you can find an old copy of Winternals it has locksmith on it.

PS my friend just sent me this-

During a recent password audit at my company, it was found that our blonde receptionist was using the following password: "MickeyMinniePlutoHueyLouieDeweyDonaldGoofySacrame nto" When asked why she had such a long password, she said she was told that it had to be at least 8 characters long and include at least one capital.
