F40 teardown photos

Decided to replace head gaskets on the F40, and one thing of course leads to another, so the car will get a few more treats along the way. So here are a few shots of the car, heads and powerunit in their more naked state. While we're at it, the frame and other normally hidden bits will get buffed up prior to re-assembly.

and a few more pics...one thing that got my attention was just how tiny each cylinder is - the intake and exhaust valves are tiny - amazing how much horsepower and torque you can get from forced induction of what is otherwise a modified power unit from a 308/348.

Wow! Thanks for the pictures! I've never seen shots like it before.

I'm still blown away by the use of carbon fiber on the floorboard and throughout the car by Ferrari WAY back in the day. Truly forward thinking.
