We’ve been seeing shots of a Ferrari FXX test mule around Maranello for some time now. Details on the car, which is said to be a successor to the Enzo, have been revealed via a leaked internal memo. Now the authenticity of the memo has yet to be confirmed so take everything you hear with a grain of salt.

The letter appears to be written by Luca di Montezemolo, Ferrari’s president, to a Chinese Ferrari importer. Written in English the memo confirms the new Ferrari, FX150, will be powered by a mid-mounted V8 turbo charged producing 794-hp. Mated to a 7-speed gearbox, he said that the car will do 0 to 60 mph in 2.7 seconds with a top speed of 242 mph. The memo also states that the new model will use a carbon fiber body and chassis with weight being around 1,300kg (2,866 lbs). Prices are expected to be in the €1.2-€1.3 million range.

 

This was confirmed as a hoax. It's all over the internet.

 

They already made that car. It's called the F40 LM with an extra 300 pounds added.

 

Well it figures it sounded too good to be true

 

Apparently, two kids mocked up the letter and posted it on the Internet. They said they had no idea it would spread the way it did. According to one Website, the kids have some legal stuff to deal with now, though I don't know to what extent, and I doubt it'll be serious.

What's most annoying about this is that the fact that it's a hoax won't spread nearly as quickly as the letter itself. So three months from now, I'll log in to FerrariChat in the middle of the night, only to find the following thread title: New super car information LEAKED...!!!
