The previous owner (a musical arranger for Sonny & Cher) had cooked the GTO's engine after an oil line burst--remember that the GTO has a dry sump which is located behind the passenger--and he was wanting to buy a 427 Cobra instead of rebuilding the engine. Sal gave me his phone number and I called to negotiate with him. I got the GTO and he got his Cobra.

that is so cool, how long did it take to get the car up and running?

btw, you are about the best new member we have gotten in a long time. please stay with us for the duration.

It took a couple months but it felt like FOREVER (!!).

Ok don't answer if you don't want to but how much did a used gto with a bad motor go for back then?

With all due respect to everyone else on TS, Krasnavian instantly jumped to the top of my "person on Teamspeed you would most like to meet" list. Thank you for sharing these amazing stories.
