Cayenne Turbo vs X5/6 M
#11
While you make a good point about who may actually "NEED" an SUV, the Panamera is horrendously ugly.

I had a X6 V8 before || it's very good and powerful and fun to drive .. But the M is more powerful than cayenne and X6m
And cayenne turbo is very powerful too ..
So .. For the power : X6m
For too many options and luxury : cayenne turbo

CTT has multiple personalities
First - I need an SUV to haul my three kids to school and take the luggage to the airport for family vacation. Also, driving on the highway with all the 18-wheelers - the SUV does wonders for visibility over my 911. Panny is good for a person who does not need to take adults with them anywhere and has two kids or less that need to go to school.
Panny with a rear bench - then we can talk. Until then, maybe you should procreate more rather than knock the worlds most capable and best performing SUV :-).
The CTT is a bit softer than I would have liked. I do love it - its got balls when you want it, but I dont want balls in my face all the time. The greatest thing which I have grown accustomed too in the Cayenne Turbo is that is goes from a raging sports car (sport mode, lowered and tightened suspension, tighter steering and super acceleration) to a mercedes S class once Comfort is pressed. The fact that I can tear up the backroads on the way to my parents house, pick up my aging dad, and he says, "wow, this feels like my S-class, not a truck" I know that Porsche has done something right.
If you want a beast that has different personalities, the Cayenne Turbo is the only way to go.
The Bimmer - I like it, many folks like it, I just feel its very dated and not envelope pushing - and I'm pretty sure its personality is a one track mind. For my $137K I spent on the CTT, I like the variety. It keeps its interesting.
Just remember - if you buy it with the 21" Turbo II's - you need to get 20" rims and snow/winter tires also.
Good luck!

I've not driven the X5M, but my Cayenne Turbo is the single most capable vehicle I've ever owned. In two years of ownership, I've literally never encountered a driving condition where it was anything other than completely balanced, poised, and confidence-inspiring. Crappy weather, doesn't matter. Off-road, doesn't matter. I even took the kids around the track in it for a few laps once or twice (so, not exactly balls to the wall, but more aggressive driving that you see on the way to soccer practice...), doesn't matter.
Porsche has always had a magic about their ability to work suspension in such a way that it rides well *and* goes around corners. Also, there are lots of little features that you notice when you've lived with it for a while that make you realize how much thought went into making it work the way you subsequently realize is exactly the way you want it to work.

Recently was considering trading in my CTT for a bently CGT speed or brand new CGT with the new amenities and improved techno amenities. After driving them both back to back, I left there more appreciative of my CTT. Thus I am glad that I did not make the trade. Also drove the X5M before I got the CTT and was not impressed, and thought it looked really plain compared to a X5 5.0
As I said before you will pay $30k more on average but you will get that much better of a car IMO.
