Back on topic, I certainly wouldn't turn down a Panamera Turbo, but that's the only one that really gets me going. It'd just be hard to stomach spending $150K+ on that car. I still like it better than any AMG S-Class, V12 7-series, or A8 variant. The Alpina and maybe a Quattroporte would rank ahead IMO.
I was thinking about the B5 which is a softer car than the M5. Personally I see the Panamera more in the E-class/5er area more than the S-class/7er. The S and 7 are larger and clearly meant to be full size sedans first and foremost, the performance versions are an after-thought.

How's this possible? My 335 can't even get this kind of mileage where as the Panny does this while weighing over 4000Lbs.

Tell me about it! That V10 could suck fuel like no ones business.

Direct injection certainly helps the Panamera.

Direct injection and the 7-speed PDK are the reasons. When I went from my 997.1 to 997.2, I saw 3-4 mpg better everywhere. During our drive cross-country, these are the stats including traffic, stops at lights, getting gas, etc.:
