How to completely disable PSM
#13
Groupe B and Stoppie
No have no desire to wreck my Porshce, but I do cherish the right and freedom to toss her sideways without the dreaded PSM interfering dn killing the throttle
With PSM OFF, the minute the Panny S is goes even remotely sideways, the PSM kicks in and kills the throttle. Cannot get it sidways without PSM taking over completely. No fun at all
On my AMG's it was similar. ESP on, no fun, ESP off - more fun but still teh ESP would intrude. However there was a simple way to go into the dashboard menu and activate DYNO mode. This completely disabled ESP and you could drift the car with ease, do burnouts at the drag strip.
If you want to see how much fun you can have tossing a car sideways in the wet with concrete walls and barriers all around, here I am having fun at Road Atlanta earler this year playing in a qualifying session with only 120 HP.

When you have PCM in a 997 turbo off it will definitely go sideways.
Correct me if I am wrong, but isn't there more than one button to press other than the PCM to disable it? Doesn't the sport button have to be engaged as well?

With PSM set to OFF and Mode set to SPORT, the PSM still engages when the car gets past a certain slip angle. I am unable to get the rear out and hold it there with throttle. PSM interferes,m cuts the throttle and engages the brakes bringing the car back to boring - you cannot put it into a continuous drift.

Could it be your driving?

If the PSM is turned off the car will allow any amount of yaw angle and will ONLY intervine when ABS is activated. With the system active it will allow up to 11.5 degrees of yaw angle. However the system does adapt to the driver. If the driver is consistantly driving the car outside of the 11.5 percent it will decrease the level of yaw the car is allowed before intervening.

Of course it could definitely be my driving, but with my AMG's there were simple menu sequences that would circumvent the ESP, and allow drifting a heavy sedan with ease. I am merely looking for the same experience and enjoyment in the Panny, and so far have been unable to make it work. Looking for help and advice.
Possibly one or both of you have some footage of yourself drifting your Panny that would make me see it first hand. Many thanks in anticipation.
