I received the letter from Porsche's Executive VP & COO dated Nov 17, apologizing and offering the luggage. (The letter states ". . . please accept a complete set of Panamera luggage with our complements [sic]. This high-quality luggage has been designed specifically to fit your new Panamera . . . ." I believe I can reasonably conclude that Porsche is committing to me that I will receive a COMPLETE set, DESIGNED SPECIFICALLY TO FIT in the Panamera -- not simply a set of 4 small carry-on bags, as others have reported. If Porsche does give me 4 carry-on bags, rather than a "complete set," I will surely protest.) I haven't attempted to call the rep myself. (A friend of mine suggested I tell my dealer I'm thinking of canceling the order, and THAT should shake some information loose. But I'd rather not play that game.) Chris, thanks for the offer to check on my car; I'll send yo my VIN via PM.

It is a "complete set" designed to fit in the panamera. However it is the medium sized hard luggage set which can fit in an overhead compartment on the plane. The medium sized set retails for $3650 and that is what they are sending. The large sized set retails for a thousand more. I had my dealer double check this. It fits across the trunk but leaves some extra space whereas the large set completely fills the trunk.

Still no car . . .
The owner of my dealership is talking to his Porsche rep on an hourly basis. The sales manager is afraid to talk to him . . . he's afraid he'll say something SO critical of Porsche that it will jeopardize the dealership's relationship with them. In nearly 10 years selling Porsche cars, he has NEVER seen such a big SNAFU. We're all reasonable people; we understand that with the introduction of a new car, things happen, and we all understand that Porsche wants all of the cars to be "right" before they're delivered. Just give us accurate INFORMATION. If there's going to be a 4-week delay, TELL ME THAT UP FRONT.
Today, the dealer received a call from their carrier that a truck is on its way with 2 cars. But those are not the 2 cars that were still held up . . . those are two NEW cars that just arrived in the port -- apparently, having been corrected at the factory.
The rep seems to be powerless as well; he apparently needs to wait until he gets a call from the port, telling him what cars are on the truck (by VIN). Then he calls the dealer to report it.
But there seems to be NO WAY to do a basic INQUIRY. I want someone to VISUALLY verify EXACTLY where my car is at this precise moment. There's GOT to be SOMEONE who works for Porsche, at the Baltimore port right now, who has a cell phone, who can stand next to my car and say "yes, it's here."
If a couple of yahoos can manage to get into a White House state dinner and get their picture taken with their arms around the Vice President, it ought to be possible for someone to find my car.

Good news . . .
Owner of dealership called me today; the car's getting loaded into the truck in Baltimore and they'll have it tomorrow. I'll go "visit" it and take pics. (My stepdaughter says: "Why? To post on FaceBook? 'Look: here's the car I don't have.'" :-) I don't want to drive it until they've put on the clear bra and the Xzilon treatment (especially for the interior, which is blue/cream two-tone). So barring any additional problems, I should have it Friday. I wonder if it has anything to do with the nastygram I sent to Porsche customer service?

Murphy's Law . . .
The car's still in Maryland, as of 5:00 PM tonight. To be specific, it's in Annapolis. ANNAPOLIS. That's SOUTH of the Port of Baltimore. The OPPOSITE DIRECTION. Apparently, there were 3 other cars on the truck, that needed to be dropped off BEFORE they could bring my car to Pennsylvania. Why it took 24 hours just to go 30 miles is a mystery to me . . . maybe they delivered a couple of cars in Virginia first. My dealer's being very supportive; they have someone waiting to meet the truck when it finally arrives tonight, and they'll do the prep work tonight, so the clear bra can be installed Friday morning. (They could teach Porsche a few things about customer service.) If all goes well, I should be picking the car up Saturday. But of course, nothing has gone well so far.
