Does this warning apply to Porsches ?

I saw a warning on the suction cups of a radar detector that said some cars have a coating on the interior glass that can be ruined if suction cups are applied to it.

I am not referring to it not working well but referring to the fact that something intrinsic to the interior of the windshiled glass would be ruined.

Does anyone know if Porsche has this "coating" or has anyone had a problem by using suction cups on their front windshield ?

It'll take one hell of a suction cup to ruin any kind of coating or film on glass. I've been putting vacuum cups (have a small pump, much stronger than conventional suction cups) on all sorts of Porsches to mount cameras and such for years, no issues.

I am quoting from the Escort manual:

Caution !

"A few vehicles (including some Porsches) have windshields with a soft anti-lacerative coating on the inside surface. Use of suction cups will permanently mar this coating. Consult your dealership or the vehicle owner's manual to determine if your windshield has this coating."
