Does this warning apply to Porsches ?
I saw a warning on the suction cups of a radar detector that said some cars have a coating on the interior glass that can be ruined if suction cups are applied to it. I am not referring to it not working well but referring to the fact that something intrinsic to the interior of the windshiled glass would be ruined.
Does anyone know if Porsche has this "coating" or has anyone had a problem by using suction cups on their front windshield ?

I think that refers to the heavy-duty defrosters fitted to Cadillacs and Buicks. Those things will melt through an inch of ice in 3 minutes, but screw with radar detectors.
I use my V1 with my Cayman every day and it hasn't affected anything that I can see.

Hopefully this warning pertained to other types of cars....just wonder what is on their windshield that can be damaged ?

The thing it can damage was mentioned in my earlier post.

On my TT I've had suction cups on it daily since I got the V1 about 3 years ago (extra mounts, 1 for each car), and I've had ZERO problems with the windshield (well, except for the damn occasional rock hitting the outside......
). No problems at all with the suctions cups on the inside though.

I am quoting from the Escort manual:
Caution !
"A few vehicles (including some Porsches) have windshields with a soft anti-lacerative coating on the inside surface. Use of suction cups will permanently mar this coating. Consult your dealership or the vehicle owner's manual to determine if your windshield has this coating."
