New Spyder Color?

Paint to Sample on Spyder
Carrara: For months now many of us have contacted PCNA and PAG on this particular subject, either via our dealers or directly. To date, they have said 'no' regarding PTS.
But there has been two significant hints recently that PTS is in the works. The first one was that PTS was an option listed in a 'confidential' Porsche order guide for the UK market MY2012 Cayman R which was leaked in December at Planet 9. If PTS was going to be included in the Cayman R in the near future, surely it would also be available for the current Boxster Spyder, especially when they start (as expected) MY2012 production in late Spring or Summer (2011). The second hint, this time totally in the open, was the 'Meteor Grey' paint on the Detroit show car. Note that if it was going to be a "Special Color" option on the Spyder, like 'Cream White', its cost would have been only $3,140. The fact it is listed as $5,500 is significant. That is exactly the amount Porsche currently charges for Paint to Sample. So I would expect an official announcement on PTS on the Spyder and Cayman R from PAG and PCNA in the near future.
PTS will be more welcomed for the Spyder than the Cayman R, which already boasts almost double the color choices of the convertible, including an 'exclusive' metallic green paint! So from a marketing point of view, PTS is precisely what the Spyder needs on its last year of production, prior to a mayor model overhaul & new platform (expected as an early MY2013 in the Spring of 2012).
