My 986 Build....
#63
The cage is almost done,...FINALLY!
While I am no expert, I think Kenny's work is amazing both from design and execution points of view. His TIG welds are perfection!
In the pics shown here, the door bars and harness bars are still absent. Also some of the welds around the floor plates and the rear shock towers need to be finalized.
Just thought I'd post a few pics to share my excitement. If my recent neck injury doesn't hold me back, I'll have the inaugural cruise at Monticello in 3 weeks!

Go for it!
These are really fun cars on the track if you like 'momentum cars.' I truly enjoy driving this car more on the track than my 997TT!
Here's a recent update I just posted elsewhere....
Cage (and roof) are going to the paint shop today or tomorrow. Orange of course.
Kenny got my new Swift springs in and then needs to put the car back together again!
I am sooooo excited to try the car out.
This winter in addition to the cage....
There's still room to de-wire the car and lose even more weight. I'm not sure if Kenny pulled the rear wing motor etc etc. Since I'm not competing with the car this year, I'm not concerned. Frankly I don't think my driving is at a point where 30-40 pounds will make a difference. For me that's sometimes the difference between meals or bowel movements.

This winter in addition to the cage....
- It lost a few hundred pounds (hasn't been weighed yet but frankly there's still room to lose weight and keep in spec)
- Fiberglass roof (9 pounds vs stock 50 pounds)
- Got stiffer springs
- GT3 'street' control arms x4
- Converted to 255 'square' tire set up
- Upgraded clutch and LWFW
- Fixed RMS (car had 9600 miles on it when I got it from my Mother! - hence dry seals)
- SSteel brake lines
- Maybe a Smartycam depending on timing
- And most importantly a Ridiculously Red Sparco suit from Santa, a HANS, and a collar

Well the good news is that the cage is simply awesome. Seriously functional and at the same time beautiful.
...The bad news: my builder started up the car and then realized that the new S oil cooler he installed has a crack in it. So engine coolant has become contaminated with oil. The really bad news is that he threw out my non-S oil cooler. I can't blame him, why keep it!?
So, I am heading to Monticello tomorrow but will be driving my TT. I'm really bummed as I was looking forward to finally trying out the Spec Box. I'm sure I'll have fun with the TT. I'll just have to scale back my driving enthusiasm since it is my DD!
Next weekend is my PCA chapter's first DE of the year. The Boxster will be ready for it!
