This car is only to be driven in, Phantom you drive and a Phantoms back seat does not come close to this.

Mabach still, 8 years later have not updated the car with anything worthwile.

Still its as quiet as a wisper and more comfy than anything else out there.
This 2004 rear seating options squash anything a S class offers. I have to disagree with they lack technology. The palm pilot in the picture controls everything in the car. The rear roof is see through or smokes with the touch of a button like the showers in Vegas. It has silly stuff but nothing is more comfortable than these cars. Anybody that has never played with one and rode in the back seat have to just sit in one once and see what it does!

And in regards to power, remember they have the same motor as a S65. V12 TT!

57S>Phantom any day. Much better car to be driven in, IMO. (ive been driven in both)

To driven in, I agree the Maybach has no competitor IMO.

I like to drive myself, so hence why we went with the Phantom instead.

I don't get it, to me it seems a 57S would be more fun to drive than a phantom, but I haven't driven either, so I don't know.

BMW owns Rolls-Royce these days, so it's no surprise to find a V-12 engine derived from the German automaker's vast engineering works under the hood. The Phantom's sheer mass blunts its 453 horsepower off the mark, but 60 mph arrives in just 5.7 seconds.

57S: Zero to 62 mph: 5.0 sec
Power (SAE net): 604 bhp @ 4800 rpm

I have only been in the back of them and think the maybach is more comfy. Anyways, they are both uber-sedans, can't go wrong. But, for me, the Maybach Zeppelin has no match:

Not quite right. the normal 57 and 62 like ours has the 5.5ltr twin turbo as found in the s class but with 550bhp and 640lbs. Its a great car dont get me wrong but its technology is out of date. our SL65 we bought a year later had far better technology. the phones for example are in black and white and take an age to flick through functions. There is no ipod link, no touch screen nav etc. At over £300k you expect the best of merc technology. its just a little sad a couple years after release the new sclass tech is considerably better. 4 years down the line maybach has not updated itself. Merc doesn’t care about it, that much is obvious. the best they can come up with is new leather quilting or posher materials. IMHO this is completely the wrong type of innovation for the car. Maybach needs the best of the best, not a few more stitches or a finer wood interior. That is the place for the Bentley or rolls. Maybach needs to be the best of everything. Especially considering it is the most expensive by some margin.

It would be worng to say that either car is fun to drive. Both are much better in the back seat from my experiance. I have no idea why you would really want to be behind the wheel in either. The maybach is considerably faster and does have more feel. The roller has a very thin wheel and is as light as a feather. Both are about the back seat but the rolls is about how you look from it.

Good thing they make both cars since everyone has a preference. To me, the Maybach seems overpriced, but, I've never even been in one. That doesn't mean that there is anything wrong with it, or that I want to somehow show off in a RR. I'd never buy one of those either. I just prefer one more than the other.
