For aircraft there are tons of resources. www.tradeaplane.com, ebay, controller.com and there are dozens of brokers and other resources.

If you are a brand new student pilot I would not buy a twin and learn in it. More expensive to operate, you will be hard on it as you learn, and insurance will be much more expensive.
Thanks. He can give me lessons.

But I have not talked to him about prices and stuff, so I thought I would look into how miuch these things cost first.

3,760 gallons of fuel on board. You have a According to their spec sheets you get a 1600 NM range, and according to every other information source out there, you can reach 2500NM. So it can get you pretty far either way. I guess you would have to actually run the numbers and see what it really is. EIther way with Jet-A prices today that's a pretty hefty fuel bill.

For a Private Pilot certificate, you will probably be looking at something in the neighborhood of 10k.

I'd budget that high, but you can definitely do it for less. Depends on you. I tell anyone pursuing a pilot's license they need to commit to flying minimum 1x per week weather permitting. You retain more, have to repeat less in the following lesson, etc. Look for schools with career CFIs if you can find them so you aren't hopping between CFIs in the program. Finally, look for a school that is using modern, efficient aircraft for primary instruction. Something like the Diamond DA-20 that burns 5gph versus the traditional Cessna 172 that burns 8-10.

If you know you are only going to be a sunny day pilot, never fly at night or in bad weather, etc. I would heavily recommend you look into the Sport Pilot certificate. Much less time required and you can be flying in a few months for a couple thousand bucks versus going the full Private Pilot certificate route.

Sure, but seriously, if I had this, I'd be using afterburner way too much. Cruise at altitude most likely includes a refuel at altitude.

700nm at low altitude.

Mach 2 is what, maybe 1500 nm/hr? That fuel alarm will be hurtung your ears after a takeoff, a climb, and a few seconds of Mach 2 flight. I suppose you could glide down...

One thing I learned in my control systems class in college by a prof who was involved with the Appolo project...

Without propulsion, modern jets glide like a rock.

I have flown with Pride Aircraft and they are one super organization. they trained me and did maintenance on my L39.The chief pilot is an exF15 pilot and many of the instructors are ex military or current airline pilots. Any aircraft they sell are the best in the U.S. as far as quality and detail. If you want training, they are one of the most professional organizations with state of the art simulators and hands on equipment for systems understanding. If you are ever in Rockford, IL stop by their airport location and check them out.

I owned it for three years and had lots of fun. I hold a commerical license with the following ratings, airplane single engine land, airplane multiengine land, sea plane, instrument, and type rated in the L39.
It is against the regulations for a non military pilots to fly super sonic anywhere over the contintial United States but can go out over the ocean to go super sonic. Military pilots can only fly super sonic in authorized airspace such as training areas or off shore (ocean).
