One cool fact about that plan is that it was over a foot longer while in the air. At the speeds that it flew at there was enough friction created by the plane cutting through the air that the metal expanded and the plane was about 18 inches longer in flight.
Also, it could not take off fully fueled and had to have a support tanker refuel it once in the air.
