According to something I just read the YF-12A was armed with 3 Hughes GAR-9/AIM-47A air to air radar guided missiles. This is an AIM-47 Missile in the Launch Bay of the YF-12A.

There were 3 armed prototypes, but the idea was scrapped not long after.

There was a drone that rode piggy back at one time as well they called it D-21.

Thats because the surface of the plane gets so hot the metal only touches when it is in flight. Surface temps close to 900 degrees when traveling at Mach 2.
